Okay, this is not news, but it seems like my local NBC affiliate thought it was cute enough to feature before their first weather segment tonight.
This "church" is notorious for bad use of their marquee. I guess we can count our blessing that they did not put "You think it's hot here? Wait until you get to hell". But, this is a real issue to me as many "churches" misuse their signage with cutesy little one liners or just plainly awful heresy.
My question, why not use your signs to actually proclaim the Word of God? It is, after all, quick and powerful, sharper than a two edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), it is truth (John 17:17), it will help a Christian not to sin (Psalm 119:11) and it is how faith comes to be (Romans 10:17).
So come on "church" leaders. Stop with the simplistic, cute one liners. Proclaim the Word of God on your marquees. Sow the seeds of the Word of God on the passers by of your "church" and let God take those seed and bring forth fruit. Stop trying to relate to a damned world and start doing as scripture says.
